I have been looking forward to Caylee’s wedding since she first contacted me through Facebook. Caylee has been a big “fan” of mine on social media and I was so excited to meet her! Caylee and Christopher tied the knot at the cutest little church in Bartow- First United Methodist Church. The church has gorgeous stained glass windows, a balcony, and a beautiful stage with a stunning pipe organ!! This wedding was a little different for me. I was fortunate to be able to play for their guests prior to the start of the ceremony and while the beautiful bridesmaids entered. However, I did not play for Caylee’s big entrance. Caylee dreamed of walking down the aisle to the words of Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years”. This was a unique experience for me. Since I was not playing for the bride’s entrance, I got to really watch her as she came through the doors and walked down the aisle-- I got goosebumps!!! She looked so beautiful and she was radiating with joy! The couple decided to do a unity cross ceremony and the bride requested that I play a song from my repertoire during this time. I decided to play the instrumental version of “A Thousand Years” and it was perfect for this moment. A few of the bridesmaids glanced over at me with big smiles once I started to play that song. I had the opportunity to chat briefly with Christopher before the wedding. He was so nice, funny, and charming. Caylee and Christopher are so lucky to have found each other! I am so happy for this couple and wish them many years of life, love, and prosperity! In keeping with their motto “practical news for practical harpists,” Harp Column wants to see practical harpists in action! For that reason, they launched an ongoing Instagram challenge to see what being a practical harpist looks like. Check out the video below (featuring one of my photos!) and my #practicalharpist tags on Instagram! @harpistkristenelizabeth Make sure to follow me! :) I was so excited and honored when Patrick contacted me to be a part of his wedding day! Him and his partner Wayne have been together 25 years and could now finally make it official! :) The couple had a small intimate ceremony at their home which I overheard from the guests was just lovely. After the ceremony, the guests arrived at Seasons 52 for the luncheon reception and were greeted by the sounds of the harp. I played for the cocktail hour and during the reception. The reception and guests were so fun! I found myself laughing quite a bit, especially during the speeches. Everyone was so appreciative and thankful for my playing which means the world to me! I always enjoy my “job” even more when I know people are actually listening to me (lol) and enjoy what they hear. Thank you Patrick and Wayne for allowing me to be included in a day you’ve waited so long for. I look forward to many more same-sex weddings and most importantly, more couples celebrating their love!
